Orka Code 0.4.4
Orka Code 0.4.4
This is an alpha. Please watch for bugs, especially when continuing older chats, connecting MCP servers and updating. Report anything odd to Max, or open a PR directly on ORKAcode.
Please update. 0.4.4 closes a security issue that 0.4.3 has. In 0.4.3 the Claude Code version Orka ran could write code into its own mods folder without asking, for example through an agent definition shipped in a repository. That code would then run when the chat resumed. 0.4.4 blocks those writes for every Claude chat.
- Orka takes up far less disk space. It now keeps only the current and previous Claude Code and Codex versions on disk and removes the rest when it starts, instead of keeping every version it ever used. Nothing a running chat uses is ever removed.
- Older chats still continue exactly as before. If a chat started on a version that is no longer on disk, Orka downloads that exact version when you continue it, checks it against the recorded fingerprint, and then carries on. The drawer above the composer shows the download and why it is happening. If the download fails, your message is kept and you can try again; Orka never switches the chat to a different version.
- Archiving a Workspace now frees its build output (
target,node_modules,dist,.next,build,.turbo) while keeping every source file and uncommitted change, so unarchiving is instant and the next build recreates it. Only folders Git ignores are removed, never anything tracked, and nothing is touched while a process is running in the Workspace. - MCP sign-in works again. Connecting an MCP server that needs a browser sign-in no longer stops before the sign-in page opens, and a Codex server that simply needs you to sign in now says “Needs sign-in” instead of reporting a rejected account.
- Claude Code moves to 2.1.296 for its permission fixes; the previous version, 2.1.289, stays on disk for older chats. Codex stays on 0.160.0.
- Accept edits is off for Claude in this release while we move to a newer Claude Code. Use Ask instead. Accept edits returns in 0.4.5. Codex keeps Accept edits.
If you return to 0.4.3 or earlier by hand, chats whose version 0.4.4 removed from disk can’t be continued there until you update again. Their conversations are unaffected.
