ORKA VOICE · Release notes
Version 0.2.0
The why-not release
ORKA VOICE already did the serious part: hold Fn, speak, get clean text. For 0.2.0 we asked a less serious question: why not make the little thing you use every day more personal, more reflective, and a bit more fun?
Why not show you the time you took back? Why not let the pill answer your voice in four different ways? Why not let a shared invite bring home a new colour? None of it is necessary for dictation. That is exactly why we made it.
The pill gets playful
Choose how the ORKA mark moves while you speak. Surface lets a quiet level rise through the mark. Logo + bars opens the mark into its familiar live meter. Scaled pieces gives every quarter its own response. Band swell lets the whole mark grow in weight with your voice.
Surface and Logo + bars are yours from the start. Scaled pieces opens after 4 hours reclaimed; Band swell at 12. The ladder changes only how the pill moves—dictation is never gated.
Six colours, one ORKA
Consensus Mint remains the default. Invite depths add Signal Purple, Agent Teal, Deep Orbit, System Gray, and Monochrome. One choice dresses the live pill, Dock icon, weekly Ledger, and exported recap together.
Create an invite link under Settings → Appearance. When someone downloads ORKA VOICE through it, your count moves through Shallows, Twilight, and Abyss at 1, 3, and 5 verified downloads. That is all the ladder unlocks: colour. No transcription engine, setting, or capability is hidden behind an invite.
Your voice, reflected
- This week, at a glance. The menu now shows takes, words, speaking time, and the time you reclaimed by speaking instead of typing.
- Ledger + Orbit. Open Stats to move between weeks, read the full Ledger, and see how this week compares with the last.
- A recap you can keep. Copy the weekly Ledger as a private, full-resolution PNG. It wears the same colour as the app and never uploads itself anywhere.
- Your baseline, your numbers. Set your usual typing speed so reclaimed time reflects you, or reset the private ledger whenever you like.
Still private where it matters
Weekly statistics and transcripts stay on your Mac. Invites are optional and begin only when you choose Create invite link. ORKA makes an empty request and receives one six-character code; later checks send only that code and receive its verified-download count—never your audio, transcript, history, statistics, or a device identifier. Dictation never waits on the invite service.
Also in 0.2.0: update availability now survives a relaunch, the pill moves cleanly from mark to live meter and back, and the Stats workspace follows light mode, dark mode, reduced motion, keyboard navigation, and VoiceOver.
That is the release: useful reflection, unnecessary colour, and motion simply because it feels good. Why not?
